March 06

Sunday 5th March 2006

STARTING POINT: Lay-by on east side of A4067 at start of disused railway line (approx 1 mile south of Crai Reservoir) O/S Ref 870195. 18 people enjoyed a really varied day, where the views were influenced by the snow. Looked like the weather was coming in so a new short cut was created to avoid the summit. Stunning views towards the Beacons in the east and westwards over the Swansea Valley to Fan Hir and Llyn y Fan Fawr.

February 06

Sunday 5th February 2006

25 of us enjoyed an attractive figure of 8 walk with fine views over the Burry Estuary and Llanrhidian Dunes to Worms Head. We circled Ryer’s Down before climbing to ‘The Bulwark’ (the largest and best preserved Ancient British fort on Gower), before crossing and descending Llanmadoc Hill and returning along its Northern Flank to the starting point. At least that what’s most of us did…some chose to make their alternative way back. Rounded off with a horse-rounding demonstration and a pint at the Britannia Inn.

January 06

Sunday 8 January 2006

18 of us humans and 3 dogs made the climb up from Dare Valley Country Park visitor centre, following the Coed Morgannwg Way up to Lluest-wen Reservoir and returned via the opposite side of the valley. The potential fine views over towards Aberdare and Treherbert varied in the rather overcast and refreshing weather.

XMAS LUNCHEON SPECIAL
LLANDEUSANT Sunday 4th December 2005

A record 34 people enjoyed the misty atmosphere during an attractive circular and gently stimulating pre-prandial ramble through beautiful country lanes from Twynllanan to Llandeusant via Cross Inn. Just enough to encourage a healthy appetite for the delights to come in the Red Lion in Llangadog!!

November 05

5 brave souls braved the weather: given the low cloud cover we took advantage of the rain and headed to waterfall country. A walk some may have done before- from the Angel at Pont Nedd Fechan up to Pont Melin Fach and then back via the waterworks- but the river and autumn colours made it really different. The noise of the water gushing down was deafening, and although wet underfoot not nearly as muddy as might have been expected.

Some photos which don't do justice to the sound or vision!
